I recently got invited on a one day workshop which I’ve decided I’m going to attend.
The workshop is to take place somewhere in East Sussex and I’ve decided that I’m going to let the train take the strain however, its taken me several hours to book the tickets online.
The main railway networks website is an absolute nightmare to sort out a reasonable route. It expected me to get off the train at St Pancras and catch the tube which leaves at exactly the same time as my train pulls in, well, from what i know of the Kings Cross St Pancras terminal, that aint gonna happen, even if i sprint from one to the other.
what it couldn’t understand is i need to take another train from London Bridge and wanted me to catch a tube there instead of staying sat on the same train which takes me there anyway.
Its does raise the question on just who tests the software, after all, all those years ago when i took I.T. on the old BBC B’s we were taught that poorly coded software could suffer from GIGO, Garbage In, Garbage Out
I had the misfortune of driving through Luton the other day trying to cut from the M1 to the A6 due to a major problem to the north on the motorway, ok, not a major problem, I’ve done many many miles around the town and learnt a few decent routes.
one thing that has never changed in all the years i’ve been driving in and around luton is the standards of the driving.
Now, i regard myself as a reasonable driver due to the nature of my job and the fact that i clock up in the region of 50-60,000 miles a year and due also to the fact that the load i carry, well, lets just say i tend to drive cautiously.
Yet i seem to recall that the highway code states that double yellow lines are not to be parked on, the pavements are for pedestrians and not for parking and obstructing, also when parking at the the side of the road, you do just that, the SIDE of the road, square to the kerb NOT at an angle with the nearest part of the vehicle a good foot from the kerb, that you give way to vehicles to the right on roundabouts.
all these and a good few more were observed by me in less than 30 minutes drive.
i drive a huge variety of roads, everything from farm tracks to motorways, single track roads where my mirrors are scraping the foliage either side to the Kings Road, Chelsea and the worst place for driving standards is Luton
